Are you like me and struggle with keyword research? Finding keywords isn’t actually the problem. The problem is though that most are next to useless, or at least seem to be.

I thought the data from Google’s keyword tool was always bang on. I had no reason to doubt the leading player’s figures. Turns out they do and they don’t.

The data returned isn’t accurate. It would have been correct at some point though. The answer to this particular enigma came to me almost accidentally.

I homed in on a key phrase with roughly 5000 competing websites. Great I thought, I can nail that. So I set out putting articles out. Lots of articles.

It didn’t take long to notice there were now over 9000 competing sites. I was shocked at this huge difference. Looked like it was going to be hard work. As it happens most of these extra results were my articles on these different sites.

I would have definitely avoided this key phrase had I saw 9000 competing web pages. As a lot of them were mine (or had my article on) I was competing against my self most of the time. A great result in the end for that key phrase.

I got lucky on that keyword but I suspected I may not get lucky again so I made the decision to try out a keyword research service. Getting a daily list of quality keywords sent is something that appeals to me. Balancing cost against time taken (by me) seemed to prove it could be a valuable asset.

There were a few to choose from but I went with Travis Sago and his Instacash service. Travis being at the top of the bum marketing pile. And bum marketing really appeals to me.

If I can get a keyword or two in my in box each day then that saves me valuable time. At least a two hour saving. When all I have is time then two hours saved can be huge to me. Put that couples hours saved against the daily cost and it adds up to value.

All the big marketers bang on about outsourcing. And what I’m trying here is simply that. I’m simply outsourcing the job to a keyword research service.

You can find out just how the trial went over at my site. I said earlier about how I got loads of articles published for my chosen keyword. I’ll let you know how I did that on my site
