There is a lot of information online about search engine optimization, and it can be quite daunting to try and understand it. Or, you can change a few factors to your website, which can help to improve your search engine rankings. One of the first things you should take into consideration is the title of your web page, and what it says in your web browser.

The title bar is featured at the top left hand corner of your internet browser. Go to your website home page and look at what the browser says. To increase search engine rankings, the words on your homepage’s title bar should include the most important keywords or phrases, one of which would include your company name.

You should then click on all your internal website links and see what the title bar says for these as well. For every page, the title bar must contain all the important keywords and phrases that each different web page is about. Try to only have around six words or less for each title bar phrase. Make sure you don’t have repeated words next to each other, or just avoid repeating the same keywords more than once.

Search engines generally list sites that contain quality content rather than scintillating graphics. Try to include your main keywords phrases in the content, such as keywords that potential customers would search for if they were to find your website. If you want more on this, be sure to take a look at Commission Blueprint at my blog.

Aim to have around 250 words on each page, but if this is not desirable due to your design, aim for at least 100 carefully chosen words. Having relevant text within the body of your website is crucial to achieving good search engine rankings. The search engines must be able to read the text in HTML format, and not graphics.

If you can highlight the text within the body of your website, it is in HTML format. The text is probably in graphic form if you can not highlight each individual word. To achieve better search engine rankings, you should have your webmaster change the format to HTML.

You then should take a look at your meta tags. The truth is, meta tags don’t really have that much of an effect on your overall rankings. But, it is still worth adding them just in case the search engines take this into consideration.

To see if your meta tags are set up properly, click the “view” button on your web browser, and select “source”. You will see a new window. If you have meta tags, you will see them located at the top of the window. If you have these, it will read, meta name=”keywords” content=. Have your webmaster put this code into your website if you do not have it.

Lastly, we come to the issue of link popularity. This is the most important part of search engine rankings. This is the quality and quantity of websites that link to your website. Having this directs more quality traffic to your website, and also increases search engine rankings.

A successful internet marketing campaign should consist of search engine optimization. You will make more money in your business with higher search engine rankings.
